End date: ongoing
Incident: transportation issues and effect on inquiries

The Office of Posts and Telecommunications (OPT-NC), France's designated operator for New Caledonia, also wishes to inform that the current international geopolitical situation is heavily affecting the carrying capacity of OPT-NC’s airline partners. OPT-NC is thus having to deal with longer transportation times, which are out of its control.

For international letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items sent to and from Europe, including those transiting through France, transportation times are much longer than normal. Under these circumstances, OPT-NC may not be able to process and resolve international postal inquiries within the agreed time frames.

As a result, the collection, processing and delivery of inbound and outbound mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items) have largely resumed as normal. Similarly, the frequency of inbound and outbound flights to and from Togo has also largely returned to normal.

Yemen

Start date: 2016
End date: May 2022
Incident: resumption of international postal services

The designated operator of Yemen, the General Authority for Post and Postal Savings, wishes to inform that Sana’a International Airport has reopened for commercial flights, with Yemenia now operating flights to and from Egypt and Jordan. The first flight following the reopening took off on 16 May 2022.

The dispatch and receipt of international mail between Yemen and other Union member countries had been interrupted for seven years, preventing the Post from fulfilling its social and economic role and depriving the population of the benefits of connection to the worldwide postal network.

In line with the Union's Constitution and the Universal Postal Convention, as well as the goals and mission of the Union, the General Authority for Post and Postal Savings wishes to invite the designated operators of all Union member countries to resume the exchange of international mail with Yemen via Egypt and Jordan.
