Incident: coronavirus

The designated operator of China (People’s Rep.), China Post, wishes to inform that, in order to prevent further transmission of COVID-19, the processing of inbound mail is temporarily affected at Changchun and Yanji mail processing centres, and suspended at the Shanghai office of exchange (OE) and Shanghai airmail unit.

Currently, China Post cannot process or transport to sorting centres/delivery offices inbound mail received by the above-mentioned offices of exchange which directly delays the processing, transiting and delivery of inbound mail, as well as the updating of EDI messages and responses to online customer inquiries. China Post therefore requests that the designated operators of other Union member countries adjust their airmail dispatch arrangements as per communicated specific instructions.

As a result of the impact of COVID-19, China Post is therefore also declaring a situation of force majeure in regard to the above offices of exchange for all inbound letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items.
