Incident: Temporary closure of Sydney office of exchange

The designated operator of Australia, Australia Post, informs that, for reasons relating to COVID-19, the Sydney office of exchange has been closed for up to 48 hours for deep cleaning to ensure the safety of the staff and others.

This closure have had a direct impact on the processing, delivery and handover of all inbound mail items received in Sydney during this period.

 

French Polynesia

The designated operator of French Polynesia, OPT PF – FARE RATA, wishes to inform that a lockdown has been declared in French Polynesia, effective from 23 August 2021 for a period of two weeks, in response to the rapid spread of the Delta variant.

As a consequence, the processing and delivery of all incoming mail will be severely disrupted. In the first instance, the retention periods for letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items will be extended and, if necessary, OPT PF – FARE RATA will propose alternative solutions with regard to delivery.

 

Greece

The issue have been resolved and the situation is back to normal as of 23 August 2021.

 

Jamaica

The designated operator of Jamaica, Jamaica Post, wishes to inform that the Government of Jamaica has extended the national curfew until 31 August 2021.

This will effect sorting operations, mail delivery and the dispatch of mail vans, as well as the timely provision of EDI messaging updates and responses to online customer inquiries.

The force majeure situation previously announced continues to apply, with an impact on quality of service for all types of mail, including inbound and outbound letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items.

 

Lebanon

The designated operator of Lebanon, LibanPost, wishes to inform that it is currently experiencing nationwide Internet connectivity problems owing to the deteriorating social, financial and economic situation within the country.

As a result, LibanPost is unable to guarantee on-time data transmission, timely operations and a prompt response via its customer care systems, which, in turn, will have an impact on quality of service.

New Zealand

The designated operator of New Zealand, New Zealand Post would like to inform that, with effect from 23.59 (local time) on 17 August 2021, the Government of New Zealand has raised the COVID-19 alert level to 4 (the highest level) owing to community cases of the COVID-19 Delta variant.

The alert level will be reviewed after three days for all areas except Auckland and Coromandel Peninsula, which is likely to remain at level 4 for an initial period of seven days.


Implementation of this alert level will affect New Zealand Post’s operational performance. This will significantly affect processing and delivery capacity and thus service performance.

 

South Africa

Incident: flooding

Heavy rains cause flooding in Tennessee: it has been reported that rainfalls have caused major flooding across parts of the US state of Tennessee on August 21 and 22. Many roads have been inundated and some continue to be blocked by debris. Transport disruptions should be anticipated as repairs and clean-up efforts are underway.
