Australia Post informs that flooding and extreme weather conditions are affecting postal services in the states of New South Wales and Queensland.

These weather conditions are causing difficulties in the transportation of mail and parcels via the air and road networks, resulting in delivery delays in both states. Local road closures, safety measures and access issues are also affecting deliveries in flood-affected areas, with limited delivery to the following postcodes:

New South Wales:
2126, 2869, 2877, 2775, 2154, 2839, 2826, 2822, 2829, 2795, 2840, 2818, 2828, 2825, 2750, 2400, 2453, 2751, 2752, 2753, 2756 and 2578.

Queensland:
4213, 4228, 4220, 4223, 4213, 4228, 4220, 4223, 4215, 4217, 4218, 4226, 4270, 4272, 4275, 4210, 4211, 4209, 4212, 4214, 4216, 4470, 4370, 4371, 4372, 4373, 4128, 4270, 4272, 4275, 4500 and 4503.

Furthermore, a number of post offices in the affected areas are closed.

The Australia Post website (auspost.com.au) will be updated regularly as the situation changes. The weather is expected to worsen over the next few days and ease by Wednesday however ongoing delays may be expected.


Brazil

The designated operator of Brazil, Empresa Brasileira de Correios e Telégrafos, asks us to inform that, owing to the critical COVID-19 situation in Brazil, the city of São Paulo has decreed an emergency 10-day holiday, from 26 March to 4 April 2021.

Postcode areas impacted:

01000-000 to 05999-999
08000-000 to 08499-999

Given the current restrictions, the Brazilian Post cannot guarantee service delivery standards (including delivery times and other quality parameters, transmission of scanning events, quality of service link to terminal dues) in the above-mentioned postcodes. This applies to all UPU products (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items).
 

France

Incident: strike

Postal workers go on strike in Gironde: it has been indicated on March 23 that La Poste workers affiliated with the CGT union went on strike at offices throughout the Gironde department. Offices in Captieux, Villandraut and Préchac remained closed on March 23, which likely led to disruptions and delays.
 

Jamaica

The designated operator of Jamaica, Jamaica Post, wishes to inform that Jamaica has extended the national curfew until 13 April 2021.

Revised working shifts/hours will continue to apply across the entire postal network, affecting sorting operations, mail delivery and the dispatch of mail vans, as well as the timely provision of EDI messaging updates and responses to online customer inquiries.

The force majeure situation previously announced continues to apply, with an impact on quality of service for all types of mail, including inbound and outbound letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items.
 

Mauritius

The designated operator of Mauritius, Mauritius Post, wishes to inform that the Government of Mauritius has extended the current lockdown until 30 March 2021.

All post offices and international mail processing centres are closed. As a result, the processing of all inbound and outbound mail, mail delivery, as well as the timely provision of EDI messaging updates and responses to online customer inquiries will continue to be affected.

Therefore, the force majeure situation previously announced will continue to apply, with an impact on quality of service for all types of mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items).

 

New Caledonia

The designated operator of New Caledonia, OPT-NC, wishes to inform that air links from New Caledonia to Fiji, Wallis and Futuna and Vanuatu are suspended until ‎further notice, meaning that OPT-NC is obliged to suspend its transit service to these three destinations for all letter, parcel and EMS items.


Poland

The designated operator of Poland, Poczta Polska S.A., would like to inform that, owing to the severity of the current situation in Poland with regard to COVID-19, the Polish Government has put a lockdown across the country till 9 April 2021, with effect from 20 March 2021.

Poczta Polska will continue to provide postal services in line with public health measures and other restrictions, but with a reduced workforce.

The processing and delivery of all types of inbound and outbound mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items) will continue to be affected, and Poczta Polska is unable to guarantee compliance with the agreed standards.
 

Slovakia

The designated operator of Slovakia, Slovenská pošta, would like to inform other countries that, owing to the severity of the current situation in Slovakia with regard to COVID-19, the Slovakian Government has extended the state of emergency by a further 40 days, with effect from 20 March 2021.
