Latvia

Start date: 11 March 2020
End date: ongoing

The designated operator of Latvia, Latvijas Pasts, asks us to inform that the Latvian government has extended the state of emergency until at least 11 January 2021.
Therefore, the situation of force majeure previously declared is being extended until further notice, and the measures announced previously continue to apply.
During the state of emergency, postal services will continue to function with restrictions such as reduced working hours in post offices and reduction of the workforce to minimize contact between people. Items normally requiring the addressee’s signature upon delivery will be handed over without signature.

South Africa

Start date: 27 March 2020

The designated operator of South Africa, South African Post Office, asks us to inform that international inbound postal operations are now running as normal. Outbound services to certain countries have also resumed, based on the availability of flights.
However, route availability is still limited, local restrictions and possible backlogs mean delays may still be present.

The postcodes of the affected areas are as follows: 80XXX, 84XXX, 90XXX, 92XXX, 93XXX, 95XXX and 96XXX.
